Katherine Sobering (link: is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of North Texas. Her research, teaching and writing focuses on inequality, politics and social change in the Americas. With Javier Auyero, her book, The Ambivalent State, is forthcoming with Oxford University Press. She is currently writing a book on worker-recuperated businesses in Argentina, a project that has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the Fulbright Commission.
