He holds a M.A. in Political Science from the American University in Cairo, and a B.A. in International Relations from Florida International University. Leon has also worked as a visiting lecturer of international relations at the University of Los Andes in Merida, Venezuela. |

He is co-editor of Argentina Since the 2001 Crisis: Recovering the Past, Reclaiming the Future (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014) and De la crisis al Kirchnerismo: cambios y continuidades (Prometeo, 2016). Daniel is Co-Chair of the Argentina Research Network and has recently published articles on workers’ self-management, Argentina’s debt and resistance to the NAFTA agreement. |

I am Professor of Political Science at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. My research and teaching lie in the field of comparative politics with an emphasis on democracy: its quality, its institutions, and its innovations. I am particularly interested in mechanisms of direct democracy and my current research extends my previous work on the subject [Direct Democracy Worldwide (Cambridge University Press, 2011)] by looking at the policy consequences of citizen participation through popular initiatives and referendums. In this regard, I am also involved in two other, related, research projects: Varieties of Democracy and the Millennium Nucleus for the Study of Stateness and Democracy in Latin America.

Visiting Scholar at Columbia University. PhD Candidate at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (Rio de Janeiro - Brazil) studying women potential candidates and representation in politics. I am also working in papers about recent feminist protesters profile in Brazil and corruption and media bias. Beyond my research, I have been an activist of women’s rights in Brazil, speaking in various conferences about feminism and organizing cultural activities and pro-abortion advocacy groups. I have trained more than 300 women from all over the country planning to run for office in a program of the Brazilian Government Agency for Women’s Policy. In my master, I studied Conditional Cash Transfers and policies to reduce inequality. I have published a book about women and power in Brazil and a children's book about Brazilian women leaders. |

Diálogo Chino is an initiative of chinadialogue, an independent, bilingual, Chinese English website that promotes communication on the environment and climate change. It is a non-profit organisation based in London and Beijing.
Diálogo Chino aims to foster a better understanding of this relationship and of the environmental challenges that it presents. With staff in London and São Paulo and a network of contributors both in China and Latin America, we produce and disseminate information across linguistic and cultural barriers that will facilitate constructive dialogue on China and Latin America. Diálogo Chino is a multilingual platform for journalists, public officials, academics, civil society and the business community to engage with the topics that will come to define the nature of China-Latin America relations.
