Cristina Escobar is a Sociologist PhD (University of California San Diego) and was a Postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University and a research associate at the Center for Migration and Development at the same University. She has taught at Temple University, Franklin and Marshall College, West Chester University and Rutgers University-Camden. She has done research on migration and citizenship, transnational immigrant organizations, and migrants’ political participation in the United States and Latin America. |

Carla Guerrón Montero is a cultural and applied anthropologist trained in the United States and Latin America, and specialized in the African diaspora, the anthropology of tourism and the anthropology of food (Panama, Ecuador, Grenada, Brazil). She is Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Latin American and Iberian Studies Program at the University of Delaware. Dr. Guerrón Montero has published a book (The Color of the Panela: Study of Afro-Ecuadorian Women in the Afro-Ecuadorian Andes), edited a book, and published extensively in English, Spanish, and Portuguese in professional journals and edited volumes. She is currently working on a book-length manuscript on the construction of Afro-Antillean identities in the context of the Panamanian tourism industry. |

Dr. Caroline Shenaz Hossein is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Science at York University. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and Gender (University of Toronto), an MPA (Cornell), a LL.B (University of Kent at Canterbury), and a BA (Saint Mary's University). Dr. Hossein examines the disbursement of financial resources to marginalized communities. Previously, she was a U.S Fulbright Fellow at the University of the West Indies-Mona. In addition to her academic work, she has a decade of experience as a development practitioner in global non-profits, including managing a community bank in Niger.

Christien Klaufus is Assistent Professor of Human Geography at the Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation, University of Amsterdam. She specializes in urban studies and the Andean region. She holds a Master's degree in Architecture (1993) and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology (2006). She is the author of Urban Residence (Berghahn 2006) and editor of Housing and Belonging in Latin America (Berghahn 2015). She has published international articles on housing, migrant architecture, urban development and, recently, on urban deathscapes in Latin America.
