He holds a Bachelors degree with honors in Spanish Philology from the Universidad de Costa Rica and an MA in Romance Languages and Literatures from Texas Tech University. Currently at University of Pittsburgh doctoral program, he is working on his dissertation proposal, a project dealing with communist cultural practices in Central America between 1932 and 1990. He is interested in the relation among praxis, subject, nature and revolution.

Ph.D. in Comparative and European Politics from the University of Siena, Gianluca has been a postdoc fellow at the Department of Political Science, University of Bologna. He is also a researcher of the Italian National Studies (Itanes). His main research interests concern: presidents of the Republic, political parties, electoral systems, elections and electoral behaviour. His latest book is The Presidentialization of Political Parties (2015).

Hilary Goodfriend Goodfriend_LARR Hilary Goodfriend nació en Seattle, Washington, Estados Unidos, en 1989. Estudió su licenciatura en Estudios Latinoamericanos en la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU), donde se graduó Summa Cum Laude en 2012. En 2016, se graduó Summa Cum Laude de la Maestría de Comunicaciones de la Universidad Centroamericana "José Simeón Cañas" (UCA), donde imparte hoy una materia de investigación cultural. Además de su desempeño académico, Hilary escribe sobre los impactos de la política norteamericana en El Salvador para publicaciones estadounidenses como Jacobin Magazine yNorth American Congress on Latin America (NACLA). Ha formado parte de la junta directiva del Comité en Solidaridad con el Pueblo de El Salvador (CISPES), y actualmente es integrante de la junta editorial de NACLA.

He is currently investigating democratic transitions and their consequences, by means of both qualitative and Configurational Comparative (CCM) methods. He has published books on the topic of democratization in the major areas of the world and several articles on various national and international Journals, such as Journal of International Relations and Development, Latin American Politics and Society, Swiss Political Science Review, Revue Internationale de Politique Comparée and Rivista Italiana di Scienza Politica.
